中国的青年艺术家在当今多元的文化环境中创造出了属于自己的表达方式，他们的创作面貌茂盛而繁杂。艺术家们看似毫无关联甚至有些无厘头的创作之间却有着严谨的内在逻辑。本次展览遴选了具有代表性的、已在国内外各种重要展览中崭露头角的青年艺术家。通过给予每位艺术家最充分的展示，来回溯他们的个人历史，呈现他们的创作环境与思维方式，梳理出他们的创作脉络与隐含逻辑。本次展览拒绝切片式的不完整呈现，观察者可以经由每个个案一窥青年艺术家创作背后的深层动机。

本展是广东美术馆近年来首次实现对青年艺术家个案作的比较研究。策展切入点既不忽略艺术家个体的特殊性，也不过于强调策展人立场而弱化艺术家的价值取舍。艺术家被置于展览关注的最中心，不同的个案之间亦产生着互文，它们将共同勾连出当代整体的创作面貌。策展人则退隐在其后。这并不意味着弱化策展，而是将策展工作的中心放在对艺术家的创作视野与在地经验的梳理、讨论之上。我们通过此种工作去重赋“当代”之意义，“当代性”意味着与时代同行，完整、及时、有效地、学术性地呈现青年艺术家们的创作面向，这亦与我们的职责和功能相契合。

Young Chinese Artists create their own way of expression in today’s multicultural backgrounds. Their creation is various and diverse. Though some of their works seem nonsense and are without any relation within, there’s a rigorous logic in them. This exhibition selects the representative young artists whose artworks are widely exhibited in important art exhibitions at home and abroad, and reviews their personal history by presenting their artworks. It not only shows the environment of their creation and the way of their thinking but also teases out their creative contexts and implicit logics. Each case is fully revealed in this exhibition, which allows viewers to find out each artist’s deep motive hidden in their creations.

As the first exhibition to realize the comparative study of young artists’ cases in Guangdong Museum of Art in the recent years, the curatorial approach of this exhibition neither neglects the particularity of the individual artist, nor emphasizes the standpoint of the curator and weaken the artists’ value choices. Instead, the artists become the center of attention to the exhibition and the intertextuality generates among different cases, which integrates the overall contemporary creation of art.
