Catch The Light——China Xi'an G park “The Belt and Road” International Light Festival

Catch The Light——China Xi'an G park“The Belt and Road”International Light Festival opened on March 2nd, 2018. It was closely cooperated by The Pin Projects, MU, STRP and the Amsterdam Light Festival and jointly curated by Liu Gang and Angelique Spaninks.

Xi'an is the oldest of the four ancient capitals and once occupied a place in the most important dynasties in Chinese history. Xi'an is also the starting point of the Silk Road and the “Belt and Road”. G park is privileged to provide convenience for cultural exchange projects between China and the Netherlands and provide opportunities for exhibiting Dutch cultural and creative industries.

The Festival abstracts the concept of “light” and allows it to use different media and methods presenting in different works, the concept of light is no longer presenting by the daily form of “light” to the audience, it is people who experience various "lights" in life through the artist's and designer's highly interactive works. The possibility of light in the daily life inspires the audience's new understanding of the concept of "light" and make the entire exhibition more experience-oriented.

While inviting artists, designers and architects are also invited to create works
that are different from conventional ones. Breaking the boundaries between art and design, it shows that contemporary visual arts, design, and architecture infiltrate with each other. At the same time, these works, presented in the form of public art, have made this exhibition an experience of life.
